Celebrating the Annual Walnut Harvest at Sharpham Park with The BBC!
This year’s walnut harvest at Sharpham Park was a fantastic celebration of community, sustainability, and, of course, delicious organic walnuts! We were thrilled to welcome Mel Everett, the BBC Radio presenter, along with friends and press, for our much-anticipated Shake, Rattle & Roll event!
You can catch Roger & Monty's interview with Mel Everett on BBC Sounds, (skip to 3:14:19) or find the clip here.
The day began with the excitement of shaking the walnuts off the trees—a fun, hands-on experience that truly connected everyone with the land. Participants took turns using our special equipment, making it a lively atmosphere filled with laughter and camaraderie.
Once the walnuts were shaken free, the next step was rolling them up. We employed our unique cement mixer-style machine to rattle the husks off, showcasing an innovative method that blends tradition with modern techniques. After that, we gently rolled the walnuts dry, ensuring they were perfectly prepared for their next adventure.
Mel Everett’s enthusiasm made the day even more special. Not only did she enjoy the harvest activities, but she also made a new friend in our beloved Jack Russell, Mingo!
We’re excited to share our harvest experience and would love for you to listen to Mel’s coverage of the day on her BBC Radio show. You can catch all the highlights on BBC Sounds, (skip to 3:14:19) or find the clip here.
As we wrap up this year’s walnut harvest, we’re grateful for the wonderful community that supports us and for the opportunity to share our passion for organic farming.
Thank you for joining us in this special event. We can’t wait for next year’s harvest!
